The goal is to celebrate and raise awareness about Madison’s nonprofit organizations and the work they do. One day to celebrate another year of service. Madison Nonprofit Day is a day of education and celebration to bring the people who work for nonprofit organizations, the public they serve and the greater community together to discover, connect, celebrate and raise awareness about their work. For 2010, the event will be held on Thursday, 5 August.

Nonprofits, businesses and community members from the Greater Madison area will take part in various workshops, neighborhood tours, speakers, and other activities as part of the first annual Madison Nonprofit Day. Madison’s renowned Goodman Community Center, located at 149 Waubesa St. will host a majority of the day’s events and activities. Other activities will occur city wide.

The daylong event will include workshops and seminars for nonprofit professionals and volunteers as well as a keynote speaker that will discuss contemporary issues facing local and national nonprofits. A variety of activities will provide entertaining ways for community members to learn more about Madison’s nonprofit sector will also be offered, including everything from Neighborhood Nonprofit Tours to short films and informal meet-and-greets to classroom-style learning sessions on a broad range of topics.

Madison has a vibrant, multi-faceted nonprofit sector that significantly contributes to the health and well-being of the region — socially and economically. The goal is to celebrate and raise awareness about Madison’s nonprofit organizations and the work they do. So come join us.
